Innsbruck to Verona Cycle Tour 8-days

If you can enjoy the highlights of two countries at once during a cycle tour, then you've done everything right. The lively old town in Innsbruck, the episcopal city of Brixen, the Domplatz in Trento or the idyllic village of Auer - this tour simply has it all. On top of that, there are magnificent views, historic cycle paths, cultural insights and the wonderful culinary delights of Italy and Austria. Join us on this grandiose tour!

Highlights:

  • The Golden Roof in Innsbruck: The famous landmark has now been shaping its home for over 500 years. You should not only look at the 2,657 fire-gilded copper shingles, but also at the places underneath - what is a bare bottom doing on the "Goldenes Dachl"?
  • South Tyrolean wine and fruit: The mildly sunny yet windy climate makes all the difference - the fruit varieties of apple, pear and apricot thrive particularly well on the alpine southern slopes. But the wine is not to forgotten. Take time for a rest in this special region.
  • Trento Domplatz: Watch the people strolling, marvel at the artistically painted houses and take a souvenir photo at the Neptune Fountain - the central square of the northern Italian city invites you to linger.
  • Cycle around the Arena di Verona: Very few cities exude this much charm and romance, but Verona is one of them. You could certainly fall in love here every day! Why not pay a visit to Juliet's balcony and take a spin around the third largest amphitheatre still standing?

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Innsbruck

Discover the famous old town of Tirol’s capital, Innsbruck, with its Stadtturm and the iconic Goldenes Dachl. Stroll through the narrow streets and along the Inn River, savor the traditional Tiroler Gröstl, and get a behind-the-scenes look at ski jumping at the Bergisel. An info session and bike handover complete the start of your journey.

  • Day 2

    Innsbruck – Bressanone approx. 55km + Transfer

After breakfast, you’ll transfer to the Brenner Pass. From the small border town of Brenner, you’ll follow the Eisack River to the quaint village of Gossensass. Soon after, you’ll arrive in Sterzing, the once mighty city of the Fugger family. The route continues through Thumberg, past the beautiful Reifenstein Castle, Stilfes, and Mittewald, leading you to Franzensfeste with its famous fortress. The bike path then takes you past the peaceful Vahrner See, through Vahrn, and finally to the bishop’s city of Bressanone, your destination for the day.

  • Day 3

    Bressanone – Bolzano approx. 40km

This stage also follows the Eisack River, starting through the charming town of Klausen and continuing to Waidbruck. Here, enjoy a stunning view of Trostburg Castle! The valley narrows as you approach the basin of Bolzano. Look forward to a city where two cultures meet—there’s so much to see and experience. The Waltherplatz, the arcaded streets, and of course the Archaeological Museum with Ötzi, the Iceman, are absolute must-sees.

  • Day 4

    Bolzano – Ora approx. 30km

The route to Auer takes you past sprawling orchards and vineyards. Be sure to sample the fine wines that flourish along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, especially in your overnight stop of Ora. Before that, you’ll pass through the wine village of Appiano, with views frequently drawn to castles, palaces, and ruins perched high above the route. The Kalterer See (Lake Caldaro) invites you for a refreshing swim.

  • Day 5

    Ora – Trento approx. 50km

You’ll cycle along the beautiful paths beside the Adige River and through stunning orchards on your way to Trento. Arriving at Salorno, you reach the end of the German-speaking South Tyrol. From here, distinctive levee paths lead you to Trento, with its charming historic old town. Be sure to stop at one of the cafés on the Piazza del Duomo and visit the impressive Buonconsiglio Castle.

  • Day 6

    Trento – Ala/Rivalta approx. 45-60km

As the Etsch Valley narrows, the rocky mountain ridges draw closer, where magnificent castles have stood watch for centuries over one of Italy’s key trade routes. Along the way, take time to explore the historic town of Rovereto and the charming Mozart town of Ala. The bike path then leads you onward to Rivalta.

  • Day 7

    Ala/Rivalta – Verona approx. 50-65km

The final stage takes you to the enchanting city of Romeo and Juliet—Verona awaits! With only a few stops along the way, you’ll follow the well-maintained cycle path alongside the Etsch River. Treat yourself to pizza, pasta, and gelato to celebrate the end of your journey, and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the charming old town streets.
